2009 Project - Renovation of sixteenth century Dartmoor Granite Longhouse.

alpha–vae were employed as the Electrical Contractor for this project for our environmental friendly approach to providing energy efficient solutions. We were involved with the installation and testing of under floor heating, the internal heat recovery system, solar panels and ground source heat pump. We worked closely with the mechanical engineers to co-ordinate and install complex and varied electrical control structure.

We also used our close connections with suppliers to source the most modern and efficient lighting products to give this older property a contemporary feel.

Dear Alex,

We are very pleased with your Companies support in connection with the installation of a completely new electrical scheme at Lakeland Farm. The overall project has been to completely renovate a sixteenth century Dartmoor granite longhouse.

While trying to maintain a sympathetic approach to the original building envelope, we were keen to introduce a range of energy efficient  products to reduce our overall environmental footprint.

This included the maximisation of state of the art insulation, argon gas filled oak double glazed window frames, underfloor heating, an internal heat recovery unit, solar panels and a ground source heat pump.

Alpha Vae worked closely with our plumbing engineers, contractors and the suppliers of the micro generation scheme to coordinate and install the complex and varied electrical and control installations.

The system was commissioned in August 2009 and has worked to specification over the cold winter months when we were cut off by snow for two weeks.
